Rou has noticed something in the water and alerts Captain Lucy. She calls out orders for everyone to man their stations and the party braces for a fight. Suddenly a massive clawed tentacle shoots out of the water and drags two crewmembers off the ship and into the water. Trix swiftly climbs to the crow’s nest and shoots an explosive arrow into the sea, causing some celebration when two tentacles float to the surface. Meanwhile, Rou and Elaith stand at the ready with weapons drawn, waiting for the creature to attack again.
When the creature rises from the depths and reveals its full form, much of the crew begins to scream and paralyzed with terror, including Elaith. The creature rakes a tentacle across the deck, plowing into the mast that holds Trix. They are able to get down safely but at the expense of rope burns on their palms. Rou dives into the fray, hacking at the tentacles with his sword. Captain Lucy calls out, her voice seeming to echo from the skies above and then lightning shoots down and strikes the creature. It flees from the ship, taking more sailors with it as its tentacles drag across the deck.
The ship slowly makes its way to shore, and the trio help with cleaning, repairs and healing as much as they can before nightfall. Rou makes a memorial for the lost crew and does his best to comfort Elaith who admits this was much more than they bargained for. During his watch, Rou is surprised to find footprints in the sand when the island is supposed to be abandoned.
